How to Clean Your Iron

You should clean your iron periodically to keep dirt and debris from melting onto your iron sticking on your clothes. An iron can be surprisingly easy to clean. Just follow these simple steps:
  1. Sprinkle salt generously onto your ironing board
  2. Turn your iron to the highest setting
    1. Make sure the steam option is set to OFF
  3.  When heated, iron over the salt
  4. The dirt sticks to the salt and can be wiped away!

Wacky Wednesday - Cleaning the Oven Door

One of the often missed places when cleaning a home is between the two glass windows on your oven door. Over time, grease and other bits of yuck collect between these two panes and seem impossible to clean out. However, it's not as difficult as you'd think.

When you open your oven door, you will see a set of screws inside that look impossible to handle. These are start shaped torx screws and can be opened with a torx screwdriver. You can get one at most home improvement stores for under $10. Use the torx screwdriver to remove the screws and clean away.

OR

If you do not want to invest in a torx screwdriver, you can do a basic clean on the oven door by undoing a wire hanger and wrapping a wash cloth around it. Secure the washcloth tightly in place, then remove the bottom broiler drawer from your oven. There will be an opening below the oven door that you can slide your washcloth-hanger-tool into to give the door a basic wipedown.

Cookie Sheet Miracle Cleaner

Cookie sheets are the bane of most dish washing experiences. No matter how much you scrub them, they never seem to come clean. Most people end up covering them with tinfoil when they bake and avoid the problem altogether. However, there is another way.

Using two ingredients and requiring almost no scrubbing, you can clean all the rust and grease off your old cookie sheets. These miracle ingredients? Baking Soda and Hydrogen Peroxide.


Mix Hydrogen Peroxide with Baking Soda in a small bowl until you have a paste, then apply to the cookie sheet. Once the pan is covered, let it sit while you finish other tasks. The longer it sits, the less scrubbing you'll have to do so we recommend about 2 hours. When you're ready, just wipe the solution off and VOILA!
